Bariloche in 72 Hours: How to Make the Most of Patagonia (and Why You’ll Want to Come Back)
We know how travel works today. Maybe you’re exploring South America, connecting Buenos Aires with Patagonia and then Chile. Or perhaps you crossed the Andes through the lakes, and Bariloche is your strategic stop before continuing your journey.
Whether you’re coming for a long weekend or you’re an international traveler doing the Andean circuit, the question is the same: Can you really experience Bariloche in just 3 days?
The honest answer is: Yes, it’s enough to fall in love—but be warned: you’ll want to stay longer.
Especially in summer, when the weather is our best ally. Days are long (there’s daylight until after 9:00 pm), temperatures are very pleasant—perfect for being outdoors without the extreme winter cold—and the lakes become the ideal setting to jump into the water. Yes, you read that right: at this time of year, Nahuel Huapi isn’t just something to admire, it’s something to enjoy with diving, snorkeling, and kayaking.
At Patagonia Explore Travel, we designed this guide so that in 72 hours you live such an intense experience that you leave with just one thought in your head: “I need to plan my return.”

The Golden Rule: Your Trip Starts (and Ends) with Logistics
If time is tight, you can’t afford to waste it waiting for a taxi or figuring out maps. The key to making the most of every minute is having all transfers arranged in advance, both on arrival and departure.
1. Arrival (In):
- From the Airport: We’ll be waiting for you with a sign, take care of your luggage, and drive you straight to your hotel.
- From Puerto Pañuelo (Andean Crossing): If you’re coming from Chile by navigating the lakes, we’ll be there with an exclusive private transfer ready to take you to your accommodation without delays.
2. Departure (Out):
- The last day can be chaotic if it’s not planned. We calculate the exact pickup time at your hotel so you can enjoy the city until the very last minute, without the stress of missing your flight or bus.
Having logistics handled gives you peace of mind to enjoy everything from minute zero to your farewell.

The Exclusive “Wildcard”: The Night Counts Too
Most travelers make the mistake of thinking the day ends when the sun goes down. In Patagonia, that’s wasting half the trip.
To maximize your 3 days, we have a winning card that we are the only agency to offer with this Base Camp format: our Stargazing Experience.
This noctourism experience (or Stargazing, as it’s known worldwide) is the perfect “wildcard” for any of the itineraries below, because:
- It doesn’t take away daytime hours: It runs from 8:00 pm to 1:30 am.
- It’s all-inclusive: You don’t have to worry about where to eat. It includes a full mountain dinner (regional tapas, wines, artisanal gin) at our exclusive refuge in the steppe.
- The best souvenir: You take home a collection of professional digital photos (including one of you under the Milky Way) so the memory lasts forever.
It’s the smart way to turn a hotel night into an adventure under one of the clearest skies in the world.
3 Days, 3 Styles: Choose Your Own Adventure
We designed these itineraries based on real timing and logical distances. Choose the one that fits you best—but know that you’ll always have things left to do (that’s the perfect excuse to come back).
Profile 1: “Patagonian Baptism” (Classics and Water)

Ideal for: Those visiting the region for the first time and wanting to take home the iconic postcards.

- Day 1: Arrival and Starry Night. You arrive and we start with the Circuito Chico. It’s the perfect introduction to understand the geography of the area, passing by the Llao Llao Hotel and going up Cerro Campanario. If you’re looking for exclusivity, doing it Privately lets you manage your time at the viewpoints.
- Night: We wrap up the welcome day with the Stargazing Experience, dining in the steppe and toasting to the journey.
- Day 2: The Ice Giant. Full-day trip to Cerro Tronador and Ventisquero Negro. You’ll stand at the foot of an inactive volcano and in front of a black glacier unique in the world. It’s a long day, but the connection with the vastness is total.
- Day 3: Farewell from the water. Before you leave, take advantage of the summer weather for a short but intense activity: a Discover Scuba Dive or Snorkeling in Nahuel Huapi. With dry suits and modern equipment, you won’t be cold, and in just 2 hours you’ll experience submerging in the country’s most famous lake.
Profile 2: “Action Mode” (Adrenaline and Movement)
Ideal for: Groups of friends or active couples who want to burn energy.

- Day 1: Legs and Forest. Option A: Circuito Chico Trekking + Colonia Suiza. We hike through the Llao Llao Reserve and have lunch in a historic mountain village. Option B (More adventurous): Morning trek to Cerro La Buitrera to spot condors, combined with a private Circuito Chico tour in the afternoon.
- Day 2: Adrenaline + Cosmos. We start with Extreme Rafting (Border). We navigate Class III and IV rapids through narrow canyons, reaching the border marker with Chile. Pure adrenaline and turquoise water.
- Night: After the river’s energy, we slow things down by connecting with the universe on our Stargazing Experience. The perfect contrast.
- Day 3: Final Paddle. We say goodbye to Bariloche immersed in the landscape. A Kayak outing on Lake Gutiérrez is the ideal ending: light physical activity, mate by the shore, and the feeling of having paddled through paradise before heading home.

Profile 3: “Exclusive Connection” (Nature and Silence)
Ideal for: International travelers or repeat visitors seeking pristine places and premium services.
- Day 1: Intimate Sailing. Forget the crowds. We suggest navigating Brazo Tristeza (a deep fjord with waterfalls) or sailing on El Orgulloso Sailboat. Silence, wind, and glasses of wine on the lake.

- Day 2: The Hidden Paradise. We head out for a full day to Villa Traful. We enjoy the scenic route along the Limay River, with its unique rock formations such as the Enchanted Valley, until we reach the mountain village. There you can choose to visit the mysterious Sunken Forest, one of the most surreal landscapes in Northern Patagonia.
- Night: We crown the trip with Dinner and Stargazing at our Base Camp. The perfect finishing touch for a journey of natural luxury.
- Day 3: Immersion in Nahuel. No standing around waiting for a transfer. We take advantage of the morning to go Snorkeling or Diving. It’s a short, fascinating activity that lets you see Patagonia from a perspective very few people know: beneath crystal-clear water.
Regular or Private Excursion?
On short trips, this decision defines your experience.
- Regular: Ideal for meeting people from all over the world and not worrying about organization.
- Private: If you have little time, it’s the best investment. You control your schedule, stop where you want, and optimize every minute of your 72 hours.
The Final Warning: The “Bariloche Effect”
This 3-day itinerary is designed to show you the best, but you’ll realize something as you board the plane: you ran out of time.
That’s our intention. That you taste the adrenaline of the river, the peace of the forest, and the immensity of the sky—and that feeling leaves you thinking: “What if next time I stay a full week?”.
Bariloche always has something new to show you.
