Mount Tronador & Black Glacier
Cerro Tronador tour from Bariloche The excursion travels approximately 90 kilometers south of Bariloche, entering the Nahuel Huapi National Park. The route borders Lakes Gutiérrez and Mascardi, surrounded by Andean forests of coihues and lengas, before heading into the Manso River valley, one of the region’s highest-volume waterways. Throughout the journey, breathtaking viewpoints and landscapes unfold, offering open views of mountains and valleys of glacial origin. The next stop is the Pampa Linda Service Area, a valley surrounded by high peaks where there is free time for lunch and to contemplate the day’s main highlight: Mount Tronador, an inactive volcano standing at 3,554 meters that dominates the horizon and marks the natural border between Argentina and Chile. The tour continues to Ventisquero Negro (the Black Glacier), a dark-brown glacier formed by the mixture of sediment, ice, and snow compacted over time. Depending on the time of year, short, low-difficulty hikes are available to reach waterfalls, meltwater streams, and spots of immense natural beauty. After enjoying the site and its unique views, we begin the return trip to Bariloche. A full-day excursion that allows you to discover one of the most stunning areas of the Patagonian Andes.
