Villa Traful tour from Bariloche The excursion to Villa Traful offers a comprehensive experience through the diverse natural environments of Northern Patagonia: the steppe, the transition forest, and the Andean forest. The route follows National Route 237 and Provincial Route 65 (Neuquén), bordering the Limay and Traful rivers along a scenic road through landscapes of immense natural beauty. In one of the most striking sections of the journey, we cross the “Valle Encantado” (Enchanted Valley), where the wind, over thousands of years, has sculpted the rocks into shapes that resemble natural works of art. We also visit the Limay Amphitheater, an imposing rock wall shaped by water and time. Along the way, it is common to spot native wildlife, especially guanacos and condors, set against the vast backdrop of the steppe. Upon arriving at Villa Traful—a mountain village of fewer than a thousand inhabitants known as “Patagonia’s hidden paradise”—you can enjoy the natural surroundings and the tranquility of the beaches on Lake Traful, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters. The village offers traditional restaurants and tourist services, including kayak rentals, perfect for those who wish to experience the lake from a different perspective. Among its most representative dishes, trout stands out as the hallmark of local gastronomy. Optionally, you can visit the famous Submerged Forest, an area of the lake where the trunks of ancient trees remain standing underwater, creating one of the most curious and photographed landscapes in Patagonia.
